Ocean Drive Condo Remodel

We are so excited to share pictures of our latest full condo remodel on Ocean Drive in Fort Lauderdale. When a repeat client we now can call great friends asks you to remodel their condo, well that’s not only an honor but also a testament to our work.

This is a beautiful condo on a stretch of Ocean Drive that has amazing views and access to this gorgeous beach. Our client purchased this condo over 15 years ago and never remodeled it from the previous owner. It had great bones but was in desperate need of an update to bring it into 2023 with a casual coastal luxe vibe (yes please!). This client loves classy and timeless design with contemporary touches throughout. This is what we love to do. Incorporating our client’s styles into their new design while adding special features and touches that elevate the space. This needed to be a family-friendly space for their large family to visit and vacation here.

The first thing that had to go was the enormous wooden bar that was built in the main living space. The family didn’t desire a bar/counter space so instead we removed it, and created an open area for seating and gathering with a wall of storage and mirror to reflect the beautiful light and water outside. This brings so much lightness and crispness to the space, not to mention the loads of storage we added. The console has a stone top so if they are entertaining this space can hold food, drinks etc with ease. See these before and after … this alone opened up the space and immediately lightened it up with a contemporary aesthetic.

We kept the floors throughout as travertine is timeless and the client didn’t want the mess of removing it throughout the entire condo. When remodeling you need to consider what items you want to remove and replace that will increase the value of your home and increase your return on investment. In this case, this is a beautiful floor that polishing and cleaning, and sealing was all it needed.

Throughout the entire condo, heavy dark trim was removed and updated to a more contemporary silhouette or painted a crisp white. The next big area we wanted to tackle was the kitchen. It was functional for the client but with small changes and updates to the finishes and new luxe Thermador appliances, this is now a bright beautiful space where the family cooks and eats together. White stone counters and pretty white tiles for the backsplash with beveled edges once again added to the timeless classic feel we were after. No more dark counters and dark wood here!

We shortened the island as we felt it was too large for this space. We added a waterfall counter on the island and enlarged the tiny coffee center they had before. We added cabinets on the end for more storage too. The piece de resistance is the new custom-built banquette that wraps around the corner windows. This added much-needed seating to this beautiful kitchen corner alongside an oval table and extra chairs. Sitting here in the mornings with a cup of coffee just became a new favorite spot in this home. Once to linger, talk, and create many memories. We modernized the windows by visually removing the arches with window treatments in the most lovely fabric with light blue and sand color. Can you believe this transformation? This is my favorite transformation in this condo for sure. The client can’t believe it and wonder why they didn’t do it sooner.

The small details of the lighting pendants over the island and dining table, the handles on the cabinets, the covered appliances, the faucet, etc are what make this space!

The next major transformation in this space was the powder room. You know how much I love powder rooms! This is a small space where you can make a big impression. The powder room before was all painted a brown wash on all walls with a pedestal and an ornate mirror and sconces. In come white wallpaper, blue painted ceiling, new vanity with gold touches, and the prettiest white/gold sconces to frame the mirror. The ceiling was adorned with a new light fixture that is just the icing on the cake adding sparkle and shine and light to this once-dark space. The new powder room is the definition of coastal luxe! Blue waves on the wallpaper by Serena and Lily echo those we see outside the entire condo. Truly one of my favorite powder room transformations to date.

All the bedrooms got an update and all their bathrooms were remodeled. The bedroom they used as a multi-purpose room was also another major transformation (I keep saying that but it’s so true…we can’t decide which one of these was a bigger transformation). This space had dark molding, furniture, and windows. We stripped all of that and created a light space where they can gather to play, work, watch tv and so much more. This no longer feels like a dark saloon, it’s a space that invites you in and is so much brighter than before. This would be my reading spot if I lived here! What do you think?

The bathrooms were all remodeled as well. We are including some of those pictures here as well. Beautiful master bathroom suite and huge shower that is of dreams. So much to see in this beautiful condo remodel. Wallpaper from Philip Jeffries added touches of light and texture and luxe to the master bedroom, landing, and living built-ins. These enhanced light walls while adding a beautiful woven seagrass texture.

A remodel needs to be approached with a comprehensive plan to decide what stays, what goes, the budget, timeline, the overall design aesthetic and so much more. This doesn’t have to be a nightmare. It can be a smooth process where our team at CAME Designs Studio takes the stress off of you so that you can enjoy a remodeled space for many more years to come.

Hope you love this condo as much as we do. It feels lived in, collected and loved just like we strive on all our designs. The client wanted a casual coastal and luxurious condo and we delivered! Tell us what you think? What’s your favorite?
